教皇首次参演电影[跨越艳阳](Beyond the Sun，暂译)将在戛纳电影节寻求国际买家。先是制片方邀约教皇弗朗西斯一世出演电影，于是教皇要求拍摄一部向孩子们传递上帝思想的影片。教皇在电影中扮演了本人，并将把影片所得所有收益捐赠给阿根廷的两家慈善机构，用于援助贫困儿童和青少年。"Beyond the Sun" is a modern day tale of hope, faith and courage based on stories from the Bible.
