本片是朝鲜拍摄的韩国军界与政坛要人、外交家崔德新的传记片，片中崔德新被称为崔贤德。讲述了崔贤德将军在朝鲜解放后的一系列非同寻常的经历，从复国建军到朝鲜战争，崔贤德都是韩国军队中的翘楚，为韩国国防事业立下汗马功劳。在韩国和平建设时期，崔贤德又历任韩国驻西德大使馆大使，归国后接任韩国天道教教主，他在韩国的军事、外交和宗教领域都作出了自己的成绩，但是崔贤德因为不堪忍受朴正熙的独裁专制统治，最终于70年代流亡美国Choe Hyon Dok indulged in anti-communism nearly all his life. At the end, he is forsaken by the nation and lives in exile in a foreign country. But in the embrace of his beloved home, his motherland, he finds the genuine way to resurrection and contribution to the nation at last.
